Why, with his oft reported oratoric brilliance, does our President so often feel the need to lash out bitterly at his foes like a three year old throwing a tantrum? Isn't he the President for us all? He campaigned promising transparency and bipartisanship, but has offered up a bitterly divisive style of legislative leadership where the minority party and concerned citizens are clearly locked out. Where is the bi-partisanship in taking health care past committee and into closed door single party negotiations where five different complex bills are combined and allowing those on the outside a 72 hour window to review the results? Perhaps those on the outside should find alternative ways to ensure their voices are heard, such as attending public forums sponsored by their elected representatives or peacefully assembling in Washington DC to protest. Or as President Obama has said, perhaps they should just "shut up".
